Cold Front

They said a cold front was coming through... Boy, were they right!! The temps dropped from 75 this morning to 44 this afternoon. And now I hear that there may be wet SNOW tonight and a low of 35 (okay, for you Kanuks, that's about 1-2)! Say what??!! This is NOT what I like... Still, we have had temperatures well above what is normal for this time of the year. But snow? It's been a very happy 16 years since I have seen snow! If I did not see another flake, that would actually be fine by me!!

As the cold front came through, so did the rain. The colors were magnificent, but hidden behind the rain drops and I saw little aside from streaks of rain running up the windshield, being slapped aside by wiper blades. For just a very short period of time, two lines of dry pavement appeared. But that was shortly followed by more rain. It's still raining now at 10:30 local time...

I've been traveling along US Highway 2 and plan to stay on this road until I get ready to enter Canada. It's a beautiful drive, and being able to stop along the road is also nice. But the "rest areas" are just that - areas to rest. I stopped in one thinking that I could use the opportunity to relieve myself, only to find out that there was little besides trees, a picnic table, and garbage (in Grand Rapids, by the way!). Being mostly African, that posed no problem for me, tho... That said, I stopped at others that were far better equipped - and one was even staffed by some tourist advisor or whatever name they have...

Greetings, Mike.I can't believe how fast time went by between your arrival and now. Forgive me for not keeping in touch. Now I know when you will be near where I am so you can come over for an authentic Nigerian dinner. This is a great way to "travel" with you as you "minister on the road". It is so refreshing to hear positive things about Nigeria from someone like you. God Bless and safe travels! By the way, you may spend the night in our home anytime - it's your home too!

From Sharon,
What a neat way to let us know what you are doing. I agree with you about all the choices, it still overwhelms me at times and I just can't shop and I walk out.
If you come to Ontario you are welcome here anytime. We are near Burlington/Hamilton.
Have a great time travelling this wonderful continent. I am envious.
Heard that the Calgary area had about a foot of snow this past weekend. Watch out!!!

Oh come on Mike you scrooge - snow is way fun. Except when you have to drive in it or when NIC has to drive in it - yep he turns 16 in November. YIKES!!!!!! I pray that you have a great time in your travels. This is a cool thing to blog it all. Since we are staying put here in Michigan we can see the country through you :) Our lives are way too busy with the kids to go anywhere. But that is fine with us because we are having a blast with all of their stuff.
Stop in when you get back - we just may have a lawn in by then. Good grief!
Love ya!

Great to be able to follow along with your trip, but more importantly, to continue to converse with you in your thoughts. We so look forward to your arrival in Vancouver. I am sure starting to realize how much Nigeria is still a part of me and your musings remind me of that. It'll be nice to talk to someone who "just knows". Drive safe.
